Gilda Azurdia will evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention designed to help first-generation college graduates from low-income backgrounds transition into well-paying careers. She will implement a randomized controlled trial of the COOP Careers Program, which identifies college graduates who are “underemployed” and enrolls them in a sixteen-week program to teach technical skills, connect with employers, and prepare for the job application and interview process. The project’s findings will be published in a report and a policy brief.
Alyssa Ratledge will lead an effort to field a randomized controlled trial of Montana 10, a program that includes a comprehensive set of financial, academic, and student support services offered at seven public colleges and universities in the state. The analysis will measure the impacts of the interventions on academic outcomes, including course taking, grades, and degree attainment. The project’s findings will appear in a series of research reports and policy briefs.
