Gary Hufbauer and Megan Hogan will assess the early impacts of the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, which was designed to increase the development of the U.S. semiconductor industry. The project’s findings will appear in a report.
Karen Dynan, Adam Posen, and David Wilcox will lead an effort to assess how the Federal Reserve responded to the recent inflationary surge in the U.S. economy. They will commission research exploring key questions such as whether the Federal Reserve should have reacted sooner or differently to expansive fiscal policies, whether it misread the tightness in the labor market, and whether the framework it announced in 2021 slowed its response as inflationary pressures began to rise. The project’s findings will appear in a series of papers and policy briefs and a final volume of the commissioned analyses.
Marcus Noland will lead an effort to assess the severity of the impending food shortage confronting North Korea.
