Robert Nicholson and Liza Ashley will lead an effort to examine the ideological landscape of the Arab world. They will hold a conference at which scholars will contrast and weigh the merits of the worldviews of Edward Said and Charles Malik on questions including the role of universal values, such as human rights, in the political belief systems of Arab publics. The project’s findings will appear in a report.
