David Kearn will research and write a book assessing the evolution of U.S. nuclear strategy under the shadow of “mutually assured destruction” (MAD) during the 1970s and identify insights from those debates that can inform thinking about the challenges associated with deterring multiple nuclear-armed adversaries today.
