Daniel Goldhaber and Maia Goodman Young will examine how efforts to relax grading standards are shaping children’s educational outcomes. They will assess how the so-called “no-zeros” grading policy—which prevents teachers from giving grades below a certain threshold on exams, assignments, and courses—affects student academic achievement and course-taking. The project’s findings will appear in a series of papers and a policy brief.
